Local Area Info

Although our office is based in the historical old town of Lanark, through our Agents we operate throughout the whole of Lanarkshire and central Scotland including Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Lanarkshire Region :

Strategically placed Lanarkshire is The Heart of Scotland and serviced by the two major motorways in Scotland M74 and M8 with mainline direct rail links to Glasgow and Edinburgh and offers unrivalled parallel. The area offers an ideal combination of tranquil parks and market towns within easy reach of the bustling and cosmopolitan cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. Both cities famous for shopping, festivals, historic buildings, tourist attractions and leisure facilities make this region an ideal commute for business or pleasure and a valid reason for investment in the area.

Attractions :

For the visitor to Lanarkshire the surrounding areas offer some of Scotlands best scenery. There are so many attractions here including the Falls of Clyde, Strathclyde Park and Scottish Wildlife Reserves on the shores of the Clyde, fishing, sailing and numerous Country Parks and Heritage Centres. Perhaps the most Stunning is the New Lanark world Heritage Site. Famous as a beauty spot and for the work of the world-famous industrialist and mill owner Robert Owen. This 18th century cotton mill village has been restored as a living community and is now an official UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Scotlands top tourist attractions with an award-winning Visitor Centre and Hotel. The nearby historic Burgh of Lanark was the location of the first meeting of the Scots Parliament in the year 978. A few hundred years later it became the resident town of William "Braveheart" Wallace. There are tributes to Wallace's fight for freedom (he is reputed to have first drawn sword here) in Lanark. The ruins of the church of St Kentigerns date back to 1180. Tradition tells us this is the church where Wallace married Marion Braidfute. Lanimers day celebrations take part in the town every year on the second Thursday of June and is cause for much merriment in the area encompassing another age old tradition.
